Service Clubs
A+ SCHOOLS PROGRAM

- A+ Schools Program is a school improvement program that gives students the opportunity to tutor/mentor students in the Joplin District. Students must complete 50 hours of tutoring, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, and have 95% attendance, have no drug, alcohol, or fighting violations, and attend an A+ School for three consecutive years prior to graduation. Students are eligible to receive full tuition and fees payment to any public community college or technical school in the state of Missouri. A+ sponsors many activities through out the year for all students to participate.

KEY CLUB
- Karisa Boyer – Sponsor
- Meets every Thursday at 7:30 am in room AB203
- Key Club is open to all students. There is a $15.00 membership dues, in which students may pay by fundraising. The mission of this club is to help the community by serving the community. Students work with the International Kiwanis, a local service organization to improve life in Joplin. Students interested in community service should contact Mrs. Boyer for more information.

LEARN AND SERVE AMERICA

- Meets every Tuesday at 7:30 am in room A111.
- Learn and Serve America is open to any student interested in the environment. The mission of this club is to serve the community and take an active role in protecting the environment. Students participate in activities such as Stream Team events, a river cleanup at Wildcat Park, in Joplin, food baskets to the needy, and many other community projects.
PARTNERS ASSISTING LITTLE STUDENTS (PALS)

- Meets once a month
- PALS is open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Participants must be enrolled in the A+ Program, cannot be in an Advanced Placement or Dual Credit class during 4th or 5th hour, and must be approved to go on field trips by teachers and Ms. Stokes. Students travel to West Central Elementary once a month and work with the 4th and 5th grade students. PALS have lunch with the elementary students, play at recess, and work with the student academically during each visit. The purpose of PALS is to improve the academic skills of elementary school students and to motivate students to be successful in school.
STUDENTS AGAINST DESTRUCTIVE DECISIONS (SAAD)

- Meets Tuesday Mornings at 7:30 am in room A111
- SADD is open to all students. The mission of this club stresses and encourages making wise decisions reducing accidents, teen smoking, and drug use. Red Ribbon Week, in October, mock drunk driving accidents, before Prom, and the police roll over truck are all projects planned by the group.
