Academic Clubs
ACADEMIC TEAM (Quiz Bowl)

- Meets Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in room CC105
- Quiz Bowl is a club that tests the student's general knowledge through “Team Jeopardy” in area competitions. Quiz Bowl competitors are eligible to compete in competitions sponsored by the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
CONSTITUTION TEAM
- Will Keczkemethy – Sponsor
- This club primarily meets during regular class times.
- To be on the Constitution Team you must be enrolled in the course entitled “We the People”. The Constitution Team consists of six groups that specialize in different areas of the constitution. Each January the team competes in the “We the People” competition both at the state and possibly at the national levels. The Missouri “We the People” competition is sponsored by the Missouri Bar Association.
FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA (FCCLA)
- Brenda Beck and Jennifer DeGroot– Sponsors
- Mrs. Beck or Ms. Stevens for meeting times TBA by the sponsors.
- Students must be enrolled in or have completed at least one of the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes. FCCLA is a national vocational student organization for students in FACS classes. Students in FCCLA have an opportunity to take part in community service projects, leadership opportunities, and STAR Event Competitions.
MATH LEAGUE

- Meets on Mondays
- To be in Math League, students must be in or have completed Geometry or above, and have an A or equivalent in their math class. Math League participates in math competitions at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU), Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College (NEO), and Pittsburg State University (PSU) during the school year. Math League has placed first in their division at MSSU and NEO in 7 out of 8 years of competition. PSU awards individual medals, and many JHS students have been successful at the PSU competition.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (NHS)
- Sponsors: Becky Gardner & Kathleen Reibolt
- Meets the second Monday of every month, 7:30a.m. in the Eagle Talon Rooms
- NHS is open to juniors and seniors. Students must maintain a 3.75 or higher GPA, serve 20 hours of community service per year, and are required to regular meetings. NHS is designed to recognize students who have achieved academic excellence and who have exhibited good work habits and who participate in community service. Students are selected annually and must have recommendations from their teachers.
PHYSICS CLUB
- Michael Gurley – Sponsor
- Meets every Friday at 7:20 am in room B109.
- The Physics Club promotes the experiences of a well-rounded student with an interest in science. The members compete in local activities and national competitions.
