Action Research & Study Groups
One important tool for teachers to grow as Joplin educators is to participate in a study group or action research plan. Resources are provided to groups of teachers to develop and implement study groups. These highly focused groups are designed and led by interested teachers, supported by district professional development funds. Guidelines are provided and evaluations are required.
Teachers develop study groups based upon the specific needs of their buildings, or based upon needs of specific groups of teachers – such as previewing science kits for use in the classroom. Teachers are able to use these hours toward career ladder, or choose a stipend.
