JHS Enrollment, Schedule Pick-Up, and Freshmen Orientation for 2009–2010
The Joplin School District’s 2009-2010 school year begins on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Due to a new district-wide staggered start time schedule, the school day at Joplin High School will now begin at 8:30 AM and will end at 3:30 PM.

JHS New Student Enrollment:
Any school age child whose parents or guardians are residents within the Joplin School District boundaries and who meets the legal and Board of Education requirements may enroll in Joplin Schools.
For students in grades 9-12 who were not actively enrolled at Joplin High School as of June 1, 2009, enrollment begins Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Joplin High School will be open for new student enrollment on weekdays between 8:30 AM – noon and between 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM. (Note: On Friday, August 7, new student enrollment will begin at 11 AM. Also, there will be NO ENROLLMENT ON MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 2009 due to district-wide meetings.)
Please bring the following items for new student enrollment:
- Photo ID of Legal Guardian (Any valid state or federal government-issued photo ID is acceptable, such as a driver's license, state ID card, U.S. passport, military ID, or tribal photo ID.)
- Student's Legal, State-Issued Birth Certificate
- Student's Up-to-date Immunization Records as required by the State of Missouri
- Student's Social Security Card (if available)
- Proof of Residency [Examples of acceptable documents include: property tax statement, mortgage documents, house closing documents, lease/rental agreement, construction contract with proposed occupancy date, current utility bill (water, gas, electricity), or current charge card statement.]
- Proof of guardianship if the student lives within district boundaries with someone other than a parent.
- For students transferring from another district, please bring:
- The name and address of the previous school attended or an unofficial transcript from that school.
- Special Education records, if applicable, such as an Individual Education Plan and a current diagnostic summary
Students Already Enrolled at JHS:
Please note that schedules and locker information will NOT be available for JHS students until the dates listed below.
Seniors
JHS seniors who are already enrolled can pick up their schedules and locker information on Monday, August 10, 2009 between 8:30 AM – noon or between 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM.
Juniors
Incoming JHS juniors who are already enrolled can pick up their schedules and locker information on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 between 8:30 AM – noon or between 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM.
Sophomores
Incoming JHS sophomores who are already enrolled can pick up their schedules and locker information on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 between 8:30 AM – noon or between 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM.
Freshmen
Freshmen Student Orientation:
Incoming Joplin High School freshmen are encouraged to attend orientation in the Joplin High School auditorium on Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 7:30 AM until noon. Schedules and locker information will be available, and lunch will be served to acquaint students with cafeteria procedures.
Freshmen Parent Orientation:
Orientation for parents/guardians of incoming Joplin High School freshmen will be held in the Joplin High School Auditorium on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 6:30 PM. Any freshmen students who are unable to attend the morning Freshmen Student Orientation session may attend the Freshmen Parent Orientation.
