JHS Enrollment, Schedule Pick-Up, and Freshmen Orientation Information for 2008–2009
The Joplin School District’s 2008-2009 school year will begin on Monday, August 18, 2008. For questions regarding Joplin High School, please call 417-625-5230.
New JHS Students:
Any school age child whose parents or guardians are residents within the Joplin School District boundaries and who meets the legal and Board of Education requirements may enroll in Joplin Schools.
For students in grades 9-12 who were not actively enrolled at Joplin High School as of June 5, 2008, enrollment begins Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Joplin High School will be open for new student enrollment on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and noon and between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. There will be NO ENROLLMENT ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 2008 due to district-wide meetings.
Please bring the following items for enrollment:
- Legal Birth Certificate
- Up-to-date Immunization Records as required by the State of Missouri
- Social Security Card
- Proof of Residency [Examples of acceptable documents include: property tax statement, mortgage documents, house closing documents, lease/rental agreement, construction contract with proposed occupancy date, current utility bill (water, gas, electricity), or current charge card statement.]
- Proof of guardianship if the student lives within district boundaries with someone other than a parent.
- For students transferring from another district, please bring:
- The name and address of the previous school attended or an unofficial transcript from that school.
- Special Education records, if applicable, such as an Individual Education Plan and a current diagnostic summary
Students Already Enrolled at JHS:
Please note that schedules and locker information will NOT be available for JHS students until the dates listed below.
Seniors
Incoming JHS seniors who are already enrolled can pick up their schedules and locker information on Thursday, August 7, 2008 between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Juniors
Incoming JHS juniors who are already enrolled can pick up their schedules and locker information on Friday, August 8, 2008 between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Sophomores
Incoming JHS sophomores who are already enrolled can pick up their schedules and locker information on Monday, August 11, 2008 between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Freshmen
Freshmen Student Orientation:
Incoming Joplin High School freshmen are encouraged to attend orientation in the Joplin High School auditorium on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 7:30 a.m. until noon. Schedules and locker information will be available, and lunch will be served to acquaint students with cafeteria procedures.
Freshmen Parent Orientation:
Orientation for parents/guardians of incoming Joplin High School freshmen will be held in the Joplin High School Auditorium on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Any freshmen students who are unable to attend the morning Freshmen Student Orientation session may attend the Freshmen Parent Orientation.
