JHS Speech & Debate Competes in Exeter & Nevada

The Joplin Speech & Debate competed at the Exeter Individual Events Tournament on January 12, 2008 in Exeter, MO. Although thirteen schools competed for the first-place traveling trophy, Joplin took it home. Results were as follows:

Jake Miller: 3rd place Poetry reading, 1st place Dramatic Interpretation
Libby Andrew: 5th place Storytelling
Emma Meek: 2nd place Storytelling
Yuriy Meadows-Sigalov: 5th place Radio Speaking
Tim Pendergraft and Evan Ash: 3rd place Duet Acting
Alixi Morris and Libby Andrew: 5th place Duet Acting
Skye Smith: 5th place Humorous Interpretation
Andrew Frost: 6th place Humorous Interpretation, 2nd place Extemp Speaking
Roni Leonard: 6th place Dramatic Interpretation
Alixi Morris: 4th place Dramatic Interpretation
Andrew Frost and Shekar Dukkipati: 3rd place Duet Improvisation
Andrew Noel and Evan Ash: 1st place Duet Improvisation

The team also competed in the Nevada High School Forensics Festival on January 4 and 5 in Nevada, MO. JHS earned 4th place overall and won several individual trophies.
