Mr. Emmett G. Green
The JHS library is named in recognition of Mr. Emmett G. Green (1926-2002) who served the community and the Joplin School District in many roles for over thirty-two years. With integrity and dedication, Mr. Green led the district as board president and vice president, chaired numerous committees, and accepted the responsibilities of treasurer for the district bond issues. He also served as a charter member of the Joplin Schools Foundation, established in 1993.
The Emmett G. Green Memorial Library honors his commitment to public education as the foundation of American society and pays tribute to his abiding concern for young people and their future.
The plaque shown here hangs on the wall outside the JHS library, in honor of Mr. Green.
