Timothy T. Reynolds
Multimedia Learning Center
The Timothy T. Reynolds Multimedia Learning Center, located on the Joplin High School campus, was built in 1997 thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Joplin Schools Foundation. The building is connected to the JET-14 television studio which opened in 2005.
The Multimedia Center computer lab is home to twenty-two iMac computer editing stations that offer students hands-on experience with state-of-the-art post-production techniques. Using iLife (iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD) JHS students produce a variety of projects including news reports, music videos, documentaries, photo essays and short films. Students can also experience directing live broadcast utilizing the digital switcher in the master control room.
The Center also houses a conference room that is controlled by a central master control room that is equipped with a digital switcher, audio board, camera controls, VCR's and monitors. This equipment enables the transmission of a broadcast-quality signal. Fiber optic cable links the control room to other schools, the district administration building, and Cable One, allowing for broadcast over the local cable network on cable channel 14 (JET-14). Joplin Board of Education meetings are broadcast live on JET-14 from this conference room.
The Multimedia Center is open and available for scheduling. To discuss the center's capabilities or to reserve a time, please call Danny Craven at 624-5248 or by emailing Danny Craven.
