Advanced Placement (AP)
& Dual Credit Courses

Joplin High School offersthe most comprehensive selection of Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Credit classes in the area. Our advanced courses program challenges students with college-level work designed to extend their learning, while offering them the opportunity to earn college credit.

JHS offers approximately 20 AP and Dual Credit courses that span the four core disciplines (communication arts, math, science, and social studies). Advanced courses in computer studies, fine arts, and foreign language are also offered to give students the opportunity to challenge themselves in rigorous elective courses as well.

Advanced Placement Courses

AP courses are college level honors classes. JHS students may receive college credit or advanced standing when they enter college, based on performance on the AP Exam administered in May. Scores on AP exams range from 1 to 5 with 3, 4, or 5 passing. JHS offers:

Dual Credit Courses

Dual Credit courses enable students who meet the requirements to earn college credits while completing their high school requirements. Completing a Dual Credit course earns the student college credit which may transfer to colleges and universities. JHS offers:
