JHS Lady Eagles Swim Team
The girls’ swim team has been a part of JHS athletics since 1986. The highly successful swimming program has always finished near the top of the conference and has qualified swimmers for state competition every year. The varsity team (no JV or Freshmen teams) is a winter sport that runs from mid-November to mid-February. The formal swimming season culminates with the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) State Championships. All Missouri high school swim teams participate in one class. Joplin is a member of the Ozark Conference and generally schedules about ten meets per year. All practices and home meets (2) are held at the Missouri Southern State University pool.
All JHS girls in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. There are no formal “tryouts”, but all prospective swimmers must at least have the ability to swim 50 yards non-stop and be able to do a standard forward dive from the pool edge.
Swim Camp will be offered in late May for 7th through 12th grade. Times and dates will be posted under the Summer Camps calendar.
