As a part of the 50th anniversary celebration to mark Joplin High School at the 2104 Indiana location, the school will hold many activities during the school year to remember special events from the past.  In addition, the faculty and staff will celebrate past achievements by the school’s students and staff members.

On Friday, October 10 the Joplin Eagles will host the Lebanon Yellowjackets in an Ozark Conference football game at Junge Field at 7 pm.  The same evening the Eagles will celebrate homecoming for the 2008 season.  As a part of the homecoming festivities JHS will honor the Memorial Eagles 1976 State Championship football team and the Parkwood Bears 1975, 1980, and 1983 State Championship football teams before the game with Lebanon.

The team’s coaches and players will be announced and recognized before the game and each team will be presented with a plaque highlighting the team’s accomplishments.  The plaques will be permanently displayed in the trophy cases at Joplin High School after the game.  This year Joplin High School, Memorial Eagles, and Parkwood Bears state championship teams from all sports and activities will be honored at different times during the school year.

The Joplin High School staff encourages all members of the state championship football teams to be in attendance on October 10 and to be at Junge Field at 6 pm to assemble before the game and to be recognized just before kick-off.  In addition, the Joplin High School administration is asking that all players and coaches of the championship teams RSVP the JHS athletic office if possible.  Please email RSVPs to jstarkweather@joplin.k12.mo.us or call 417-625-5242.
