Wanted: Your Story
We are interested in knowing what school was like during your high school years in Joplin – the fond memories you have about the teachers or coaches, the big game on Friday night, being in the band, or other activities. Here is your chance to share your memories and help write the history of high school in Joplin!
Joplin High School has been in existence since 1885 and we have long history that needs to be recorded. Almost 34,000 Joplin students have graduated at the public high school level since that time. Alumni who wish to contribute stories about school life are urged to do so. We are looking for information from graduates from each school who are willing to email us (or bring into our offices) school stories. The stories will be organized and posted on the JHS website for all alumni to read.
How to Submit Your Story
All stories need to be submitted as a Microsoft WORD document. The form can be downloaded here: Share Your Story Form (Word document)
It is important that all alumni who submit school stories provide the following information with their story:
- Name (maiden name if married)
- School Attended (JHS, MHS, LHS, or PHS)
- Year of Graduation
- Phone Number
- Address
- eMail Address
Additionally, please indicate the year and the topic that your story relates to:
- Athletics (includes all boys and girls sports)
- Co-Curricular Activities (includes Band, JROTC, Vocal Music, Orchestra, Drama, Debate, and Art)
- Core Courses (includes courses such as Math, Science, Communication Arts, or Social Studies)
- School Communications (includes Newspaper and Yearbook)
- Miscellaneous School Activities (includes dances, homecomings, or other courses/ activities)
- Personnel (includes Teachers, Counselors, Administrators, and all Classified Staff)
Completed forms may be submitted via email to: shareyourstory@joplin.k12.mo.us
Your name and year of graduation will be published with your story so that classmates can see who submitted the information and will hopefully add their own story to your school and class’s legacy. PLEASE NOTE: We reserve the right to edit content for publication on our site or not use submissions if we deem necessary.
Please remember, it is important that all stories are submitted under the appropriate topic, year, and school name. This way, the information can be better organized for a written history about public high school in Joplin, Missouri.

Any alumni who would like to donate school pictures are welcome to do so. Pictures will be accepted at the main Joplin High School office.
Where to View Your Story Submission
As stories are received, the information will be organized for viewing and posted on the JHS website. Please check back!
