With approximately 7,400 students, the Joplin School District is large enough to offer diverse opportunities for students, yet small enough to share a strong sense of community.
An Award-Winning District
- Distinction in Performance Award – For several consecutive years, Joplin has been among an elite number of Missouri school districts to receive the state’s “Distinction in Performance” award. This prestigious award is a reflection of Joplin’s increased student achievement and level of academic excellence..
- Award of Excellence for Professional Development – Joplin received the “Commissioner’s Award of Excellence for Professional Development” in 2006. This award recognized the high quality professional development programs available to Joplin teachers.

Technology
The Joplin School District is a recognized leader in technology initiatives. Joplin teachers undergo rigorous training to learn how to effectively embed technology into everyday classroom instruction. The district offers:
- a low student-to-computer ratio (2.5 to 1)
- a multitude of technology tools within our classrooms
- a TV production studio filled with industry-standard equipment where students create & produce their own segments
- a web-based parent communication tool that gives parents real-time access to their student’s grades, attendance, etc.
Board of Education Meetings
- Board of Education meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise announced) at the Timothy T. Reynolds Multi Media Center located on the Joplin High School campus.
